NEW PADI Tec Rec Course Update
In November 2023 PADI launched a complete revamp of all their Technical Diving Programs and Courses. The core courses Tec 40, Tec 45 & Tec 50 have been completely rewritten with the most up to date training methodology using the latest internationally recognized research, Diving Science and Technical Diving practices.
For example as a result of the new diving science around Gas Density there is now an option to train and qualify to use trimix as a gas option. This is available on all three core courses beginning at 40m with the Tec 40 Trimix certification option.
Tech Dive Asia is the only training facility in Phuket to offer both diver level and Instructor level Technical Diving Courses under the new PADI Tec Rec format.
Latest Training Materials
The new PADI courses additionally include eLearning availability at all levels with the same platform as recreational courses allowing an easy transition for students moving from recreational diving to Technical Diving.
Although there is an introduction to dive tables all the dive planning is now done on software without the need for complicated calculations. Therefore the theory time previously taken on planing theoretical dives can now be focused on the latest gas density and gradient factor theory.
Both the new student materials and the instructor materials are arguably some of the best materials currently available in the Technical Diver training space.

PADI Discover Tec Program.
Discover Tec is a one day experience program that does not result in certification. During the Discover Tec program you will experience diving in a confined water environment with some of the equipment configurations allowed for Tec Diver courses.
A Tech Dive Asia we run Discover Tec Programs with double cylinders, sidemount and rebreathers. Our Instructors and Instructor Trainers work with PADI Dive Centers around the country on PADI Tec Explorer days.
PADI Tec Basics.
PADI Tec Basics is a multi-use course that focuses on orientation to new equipment, technical diving skills and techniques. It is an optional level that can also be used to help divers learn new configurations or refine their skills before moving on to the next Tec Diver level. There is a eLearning theory component and minimum 1 confined water dive and 1 open water dive.
These are minimum requirements therefore at Tech Dive Asia we conduct it as a two day course with day one as theory, practical workshops and pool training. And after that, day two as either two or three open water training dives.
Tec Basics: 2 days. 16,900.
Day 1: Classroom / Pool.
Day 2: Three Dives.
PADI Tec 40.
Tec 40 is an two day entry-level technical diving course using a single decompression gas. Tec 40 is the bridge between recreational and technical diving and a prerequisite for the Tec 45 Diver level.
On completion of this course you will be qualified to complete decompression dives to 40m. You will be able to do up to 10 minutes decompression using a decompression gas. Or 15 minutes decompression based on breathing bottom gas throughout the dive. Subsequently there is an option for divers to earn a Tec 40 Trimix Diver certification. The Tec 40 Trimix option is an additional 12,500 Baht
Tec 40: 2 days. 19,900.
Day 1: Classroom / Pool.
Day 2: Three Dives.
PADI Tec 45.
Tec 45 is a two day full technical diving course using double cylinders, sidemount or back mount,
plus a deco cylinder. The Tec 45 course builds on the skills you have learned during your Tec 40 course and expands them for decompresion diving to the depth of 45m. Tec 45 Diver is a prerequisite to Tec 50 Diver. Subsequently there is an option for divers to earn a Tec 45 Trimix Diver certification
Tec 45: 2 days. 22,500.
Day 1: Classroom / Pool.
Day 2: Three Dives.
PADI Tec 50.
Tec 50 is an extended range technical diving course using two decompression cylinders. Your training includes making multi stop decompression dives. You will learn multi gas decompression. Subsequently there is an option for divers to earn a Tec 50 Trimix Diver certification.
Tec 50: 3 days. 29,900.
Day 1: Classroom / Pool.
Day 2: Three Dives.
Day 3: Three Dives.
Trimix upgrade 6,600 per person for gas.

PADI Tec Trimix 65 (Normoxic Trimix).
To qualify the student to dive to 65 meters using various normoxic trimix blends, air, enriched air and oxygen, using open circuit technical diving equipment and procedures required to manage the risks involved.
Tec 65: 5 days 60,000.
Day 1: Classroom / Pool.
Day 2: 2 Dives.
Day 3: 2 Dives.
Day 4: 2 Dives.
Day 5: 2 Dives.
*Helium cost is extra. Therefore allow an extra 20-30,000 baht per course
*Helium is charged @ 3.5 baht per liter
(students share cost for Instructor gas.)
PADI Tec Trimix Diver (Hypoxic Trimix).
To qualify the student to dive to 90 meters using various hypoxic trimix blends, air, enriched air and oxygen, using open circuit technical diving equipment and procedures required to manage the risks involved.
Tec Trimix (90m) 5 days 90,000.
Day 1: Classroom / Pool.
Day 2: 2 Dives.
Day 3: 2 Dives.
Day 4: 2 Dives.
Day 5: 2 Dives.
*Helium cost is extra. Therefore allow an extra 20-30,000 baht per course
