Why Advanced Wreck Training Is Essential

Penetrating a wreck is very different from diving around one.

Risks of Advanced Wreck Diving:

  • complete loss of visibility (silt-out)
  • entanglement hazards
  • disorientation inside structures
  • structural instability
  • limited or no direct access to the surface

👉 Without proper training, these risks can become life-threatening.

Benefits of Advanced Wreck Training:

  • ability to safely explore inside wrecks
  • improved navigation and situational awareness
  • stronger problem-solving skills
  • increased confidence in overhead environments

👉 This course teaches you how to manage real risk in complex environments.

Limited vs Advanced Wreck Penetration

Understanding this progression is critical.

Basic Wreck Diving:

  • outside exploration
  • minimal penetration
  • direct access to daylight

Advanced Wreck Diving:

  • penetration beyond the light zone
  • use of multiple guidelines
  • navigation in zero visibility
  • complex overhead environments

The TDI Advanced Wreck course prepares you for serious penetration diving.
